Why I’m writing
By no means am I a thought leader in the engineering management space nor will I pretend to be. Most of what I'm writing may seem like rehashing of existing thoughts (Good Strategy, Bad Strategy, Being an Operator, Believability being the primary themes). My primary thought behind this blog is
There's no point in rebuilding a wheel unless you want to learn how to build a wheel
I want to learn how to think, not what to think and picking topics that equally interest me, confuse me and expose my ignorance are my jam.
This blog:
Reflects what I understand about a given topic. Ideally, if I can teach it to you, that's a sign that I understand it
Helps me become a better writer. I find that even drafting something on a topic helps me grok it better
Is shameless self-promotion
I will always add sources where possible.
If I am presenting an idea as a novel idea that's obviously a copy of [insert other blog here], please understand that this is likely out of ignorance, not malice. It's easy for me to find the answer behind a question I'm thinking about and just reword it as my own. I want to hold the question in my head and form my own thoughts and opinions behind them without being influenced by the research I'm doing. I'll research the what - the data, the problems, etc. but the why and the conclusions I draw I want to be my own.
